Graduation is right around the corner for all of those special people in your life that you can’t believe are all grown up and ready to fly the coop. It’s important to frame those diplomas, as a symbol of a graduate’s long journey. At THE FRAME STUDIO, we did a custom frame job for a client who had saved his tassels and the honors medallion. Using the school’s colors and a simple black frame, we came up with a package that showcases these fabulous accomplishments.

So remember to bring in those diplomas and get framing! Every graduate needs to celebrate the end of their educational career, even if the student loan payments keep on going for the next ten years.

(A guitar you ask? ”Madonna doesn’t play guitar . . . she just sings and dances” you say? But, oh yes she did! She played guitar in her first band The Breakfast Club, so it’s kosher!)

Cody and Gary knew they had to display such a find at the bar – you can’t keep something that cool to yourself – so we chose framing to accentuate the guitar without stealing the guitar’s thunder. We found a black shadow box frame from Max Moulding with a 3″ deep rabbet to support the depth of the guitar. It was mounted onto a white Crescent suede mat that looks a bit like mother of pearl. The guitar was finished off with a bit of blue ribbon attached around the neck of the guitar to help carry the color of the signature to the top of the package for balance.

We had a lot of fun with this piece of memorabilia and we hope that you get a chance to stop in at The Dive Bar (www.thedivebarfl.com), take in some music, eat some good food, and bask in Madonna’s glow.

The recent Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon and Half Marathon brought runners from all over to town. One of those runners came to The Frame Studio to create a custom shadow box and frame.

We have created previous shadow boxes for Karen, from other races, but the contents of this box are a little extra special to her: a photo of her at the finish line, her time card (she finished in 2nd Place in her age category – a fantastic achievement), her number tag, her medal for participating but most treasured is the button she wore on her left hip as she ran.

The button is in commemoration of her cousin Ms. Gail Miles, who was killed just a few months earlier. Karen talked to us about Gail, explaining how in 1984 she was the first African American police officer in Watertown, MA and how she had lived in her home for 57 of her 60 years. Unfortunately Gail’s killer has still not been caught but Karen and all her family, along with all of us at The Frame Studio hope that justice does prevail.

Karen ran in memory of her cousin that day and highlighting the button worn in Gail’s memory in this special shadow box she helped to custom design is another way to show honor.

This U.S. Marine that was stationed over in Afghanistan the day Osama Bin Laden was killed. He took this flag down in the town of Kandahar to symbolize mission completed. After bringing it back to the U.S. he decided to get it framed here at The Frame Studio in Fort Lauderdale. This is such an emotionally charged piece, that this framing will surely be passed down for generations to come, always remembering the sacrifices that were made. (It doesn’t show it very well in the picture but the flag has a 3D effect to it, giving the feel that it is still blowing in the wind)

Big bowl games and the end of a season games usually hold a lot of sentimental value to die hard fans, and this framing was no exception for this client. This example really exemplifies how holding onto little things from events like these can make for a great piece that brings back all the emotion you experienced while you were at the event. This client has been a fan of the Miami Hurricanes his whole life even when he went away to the University of Florida he still remained a fan. So, framing these tickets and programs was an easy decision for him. In my opinion the best design is a simple design and these two frames are great examples of this principle. These are simple black frames with a black under matte, and the top matte is white with an orange core raised up so it is flush with the top of the magazine. I also raised the tickets to make it the same height as the magazine and matte. This design is clean and will look great for years and years where ever they are hung.

This framing is a great example of unconventional things that we, here at The Frame Studio, can still frame despite the bulkiness and odd shapes of some of the items. This particular client came in with a pile of things from his wedding and he wanted them framed to surprise his wife. This gave some creative freedom as to the layout and Béla took full advantage of it while working with the client to come up with something that was suitable. To overcome the problem of objects having depth Béla made this frame into a shadow box. The final piece came out amazing, take a look for yourself.

One of the great things about The Frame Studio is our staff and their years of experience in custom framing design. When a coast guardsman came in, with just a patch and a training gun, all he knew was he wanted to memorialize his latest training accomplishment. This initial thought sparked what would become a great framing project. Béla took this framing to another level by asking the coast guardsman to bring in more patches and a picture, as well as a plaque that explained the items being framed. With the assistance of the coast guardsman, a design was laid out then the frame and mats were chosen. After the dimensions were tweaked a bit to adjust the spacing within the design, the shadow box came together. This piece will certainly be hanging for years to come remembering this achievement.

So, if there is an idea you have had about something special to you, but you’re not quite sure what to do with it… come in to our frame shop in Fort Lauderdale and let us help you bring your ideas to reality.

This framing project really displays the versatility of the contents that can be framed as well as how a good design can go a long way. This piece is an original Egyptian veil that one of our clients could not leave in Egypt. When laying out a piece such as this with so many hanging ends there is a lot of time spent in placing and keeping the piece in place. The design of this custom frame is very well planned also. The colors of the matting and the frame compliment the veil’s colors making the finished piece very easy on the eye. The light tan suede matting flows so nicely with the coloring and the metal circles on the bottom of the veil almost mimicking the reflection of the light off the circles with the seamless texture of suede. Here at The Frame Studio suede matting is just one of many different textured mattes we use to compliment the pieces that we frame.

The Frame Studio custom frames so many different subjects, but this most recent project will certainly be hanging for generations to see. This framing project was of a newborn just a few weeks old, and the picture conveys how small and delicate she is. But, what makes this piece stand apart from other newborn pictures is the dress that is in the shadow box frame below the picture of her. When I look at this complete piece seeing the dress and the picture complimented by the suede matting, makes me realize just how tiny and young this baby girl is. This piece will not only be a hit now but when she gets old enough, Mom can tell her about when she was a baby and reminisce about how cute she was and always will be.
