Art Two Ways

Art Two Ways
We at THE FRAME STUDIO feel that seeing the same piece of art custom framed two different ways shows how much of a difference the frame can influence the way you view the art.  With this panoramic beach print, the only difference in the framing is the color of the exterior frame, but it sure changes the look of the picture, doesn't it?  The silver frame gives the picture a lighter beachy feel, while the black frame gives the picture a heavier stormy quality. It's something to think about when framing your art . . . not just if the frame goes with the art, but what feeling does it portray.

The Size of Art

The Size of Art
When custom framing art for your home, not only do you have to consider the style of the environment the art is going in, but you must also consider the SIZE of the space.  We at THE FRAME STUDIO know that too many people put art that is too small on a vast wall.  The Little's Photography portrait shown here over the fireplace is 30" x 40" with  a 4 1/2" wide frame around it.  Think of how much different the space would look if the portrait was only 16 x 20!  The space in the entry way over the chairs is much larger, and the size of the portrait is 40" x 60" with 2 frames stacked that eq...

Good, Better, Best!

Good, Better, Best!
"Good, better, best.  Never let it rest. Until your good is better and the better is the best!"  We all remember this rhyme from grade school that teaches us about adjectives. If you have ever been to THE FRAME STUDIO, you have seen our GOOD, BETTER, BEST wall.  It shows how using different framing choices can completely transform a piece of art.  One of the most obvious differences in these three pieces is seen in the type of glass that is used. The GOOD glass on the left has a special UV coating that reflects 99% of the UV rays to protect the colors of the art from fading over time, an...

Framing the History of a Business

Framing the History of a Business
We here at THE FRAME STUDIO love a challenge, and we started out the year with a great one!  A new client found us with an online search.  He liked our web site and was impressed with our selection of shadow box designs on the site, so he brought in a fun custom framing project using a few of his collectibles.  Tom had a collection of model semis that he had accumulated through the years of owning trucking companies.  He had a vision of what he wanted, so we spent time working along with him to come up with the best layouts that would pair up the trucks for each company with their matching b...

The Needs of the Many

The Needs of the Many
THE FRAME STUDIO's very own Bari Wiggins brought in 8 photographs that she had taken at Butterfly World years ago, that she still loves.  They were originally framed individually, and she decided she wanted to custom frame them to make them work together as one piece. After playing with the layout, we found something that we all loved.  Then it was just a few more steps to framing choices that would showcase the art work and tie them all together - using Roma's newest Electric Red Lavo frame with some suede matting in black and bordeaux. Ta-Da!  A cohesive framing package that shows how ...

What’s Best

What’s Best
Recently a client brought in a thrift store find to THE FRAME STUDIO that she wanted to frame. She said that she liked the original mat and just wanted a frame.  After showing her some other matting options, she fell in love with this Grey suede mat and burgundy bottom mat.  The original mat had too much texture and drew your eye away from the artwork.  The new choice of a deeper grey suede mat makes the candle light on the table the focus point, and the burgundy brings out the small pops of red in the art.  Finishing the combination off with an oxidized gold frame, adds some age and elegance ...

A Trip Down Memory Lane

A Trip Down Memory Lane
Great rainy day project: take a trip down memory lane.  Why not pull out those old family photos and pick a few to frame? Framing those old photos allows you to share the stories of family members, and times forgotten.  At THE FRAME STUDIO, we love looking at old family photos, and we love custom framing them even more! If you hang a collage of old photos on your wall,  it can become a conversation piece; put it in an entry way, or a hall way, and watch guests cluster around them.   Framing your photos in different frames in the same color, gives them a feeling of an heirloom collection that m...

The Color of Whimsy

The Color of Whimsy
[caption id="attachment_1869" align="alignleft" width="257"] Whimsical artframed byTHE FRAME STUDIO[/caption] Some people push whimsical art into the background, leaving it as a creative afterthought.  We at THE FRAME STUDIO figure - why not take that playfully humorous piece, and treat it in an more appropriate manner; it is art, after all!  Our client just loved this piece and decided to dress it up to the nines.  This custom framed art work is shown here with it's artist adorned mat, framed with Roma's thin Lavo frame in shimmering green, capped with Roma's Vintage urban white frame.  Th...
