Recently a client brought in a thrift store find to THE FRAME STUDIO that she wanted to frame. She said that she liked the original mat and just wanted a frame. After showing her some other matting options, she fell in love with this Grey suede mat and burgundy bottom mat. The original mat had too much texture and drew your eye away from the artwork. The new choice of a deeper grey suede mat makes the candle light on the table the focus point, and the burgundy brings out the small pops of red in the art. Finishing the combination off with an oxidized gold frame, adds some age and elegance to the piece.
It’s always good to look at a few options before you decide on framing. Sometimes, what you think works, doesn’t always do the best for your art.
